Lisa Adams: Vicissitude of Circumstance Booking Signing November 12, 2011 6pm-9pm
Andi Campognone Projects is proud to present a collection of gouache paintings by celebrated artist Lisa Adams in honor of the recently published book Lisa Adams: Vicissitude of Circumstance. AC Projects will be hosting a special one night only book signing for the artist Saturday, November 12, 6-9pm during the monthly Pomona Art Walk.
Lisa Adams: Vicissitude of Circumstance surveys the seductive, shape-shifting psyche within Lisa Adams' haunting, mentally charged paintings. Almost cinematic in their dream-like construction of unexpected narrative and reclusive symbolism, the works document memory in strange and beautiful ways. Meaning unfurls in time lapse, both infused with a sense of rapid-fire immediacy and expansive timelessness. Like Zen Koans, implausible questions take precedence over didacticism, urging viewers to forgo rational thought in order to access a deeper intuition. Transmitting informational systems, circumstance, and story with a delicate, yet commanding, organic pulse-- as if through the snap of an electrically charged synapse -- her images resonate within the subconscious and sublime.
With an introduction by Los Angeles writer Ezrha Jean Black and an essay by theatre and art critic James Scarborough who has published works in Apollo, Frieze, Art in America, Flash Art, art+text, New Art Examiner, Art Monthly, The Huffington Post, and Art Press, among other publications.
